The mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, today visited the region of Agios Panteleimonas.

Residents and practitioners in the area spoke of the absolute abandonment of the state and the lack of obvious living conditions. "We are trying very hard, but we are alone," said some of the people who raised the issue of security, inadequate lighting, little greenery and busy buildings. They talked about playgrounds turned into toilets, drug addicts and smugglers. In terms of cleanliness, they give the mark of the place that has been washed since its construction because there is no access to the cleaning machine.

The insecurity is great, especially at night, in an area where the security department usually has 47 biological agent positions and 13 police officers.

The future mayor of Athens has pledged that his next visit to Agios Panteleimonas has already presented the plan of the badociation "Upper Athens" for security in the capital, the municipality playing a coordinating role.

"I will come to Agios Panteleimon, because it is only when you see, hear, live, that you can give concrete solutions." In Saint Panteleimon, nothing is normal, nothing is obvious, and we have a lot of work, "he said.

Earlier, Kostas Bakoyannis attended the inauguration ceremony of Archbishop Ieronymos, the second senior care unit of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, located in the region. He even had the opportunity to refer to the extremely important social work of the Church, especially in areas such as Saint Panteleimon, facing very big problems.
