The Minister of National Defense participated in "Medusa 7" at the joint interdisciplinary exercise between Greece and Egypt, with the participation of Cyprus Panos Kammenoswith his Cypriot counterpart, Savva Angelidis and the Egyptian Minister of Defense, Mohammed Ahmet Zaki.
In statements, MEPA pointed out that "The axis of stability, centered around Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, is the hope of the turbulent southeastern Mediterranean region.This is not a coincidence that this military co-operation is the object of positive observations from NATO, the European Union and the European Union, all countries in search of stability in the enlarged region ".

The exercise will take place from 23 November and will end on 30 November. It will be marked by stages of activities in the trip and at sea, respectively to the naval station of Crete and the Cretan Sea.

Mr. Gammenos, as well as his counterparts, visited the Elli frigate, open in Chania, as well as the Egyptian helicopter Anwar Sadat, with members of the armed forces involved in the exercise.

The aim of the exercise is to further promote the cooperation of the DGs of the participating countries by improving the level of operational training in a multi-threat environment.

The main objects of cooperation
During the exercises, the armed forces of the three countries will try to improve their interoperability. The objective is, among other things, to exercise anti-submarine and anti-war and surface warfare naval forces, to practice air force in surface protection and surface attack procedures, dealing with asymmetric threats; conducting rescue and rescue operations.
Observers from the United Arab Emirates, United States, Italy, Morocco and Portugal participate in the exercise.
