Christian Asia Bibi, who was acquitted last week by the Supreme Court of Pakistan after being sentenced to death for blasphemy, was released, said French lawyer Saif Mul Moulouk at the French agency.
"He was released, they told me that he had boarded a plane, but nobody knows where it will land," Moulouk said in a message to the French agency.
His detention order arrived today in Multan, in the center of the country, where Bibi was imprisoned.
Bibi was accused of blasphemy in 2010 because he reportedly spoke of Islam and sentenced him to death.
The acquittal of Bib has angered extremist Islamists who have been demonstrating for three days, blocking many roads.
