Qualcomm Announces 5G Antennas for the X50 Modem

The X50 is the Qualcomm modem that promises Internet speeds of 5Gbps, but obviously requires the use of the right antennas.

Thus, the company also launched the first mmWaves antenna which operates at extremely high operating frequencies. It is the QTM052 antenna that operates at frequencies above 26GHz and that can even cover frequencies of 37-40GHz, it can also cover a bandwidth of 800MHz

The antenna is tiny and Qualcomm plans to place four on any future smartphone. This antenna will work with the Qualcomm X50 5G modem, while samples have already been sent to smartphone manufacturers to begin testing. The goal is to have the first smartphones able to connect to 5G networks in 2019.

In theory, the download speed that can be achieved with new data is 5Gbps while more considerations Realistic will achieve the speeds of the 1.4Gbps range. The fact that current 4G networks reach substantial speeds of the order of 70 Mbps is an indication of significant evolution.

It should also be noted that the new 5G networks will be able to operate unhindered even in densely populated areas. Through the use of mmWaves, the emission waves can be transported directly with a single beam. Qualcomm calls this beamforming technique. "By connecting to 5G networks, consumers can expect gigabit speeds with an unprecedented response from the palm of the hand that will revolutionize the mobile experience." Cristiano Amon, president of Qualcomm, in A declaration.
