The size of the asteroid as long as a small football stadium is heading towards Earth and could reach it by mid-September.
According to the ESA (European Space Agency), the rock 40 meters long, located 4.2 million kilometers from our planet and the probability of impact, is 1 in 7,000!
According to the European Space Station, the asteroid will likely hit Earth on the 9th of September in the early hours of the morning (07:03 CET according to the estimate).
The asteroid was named 2006QV89 and is part of the scientists involved as they have been running since 2006.
Note that rarely an asteroid enters the Earth's atmosphere and strikes it.
The latest example dates back to February 2013, when an asteroid hit the city of Chelyabinsk, damaging 7,200 buildings and injuring – slightly – 1,500 people.
