The European Parliament asks the question of the death conditions of Constantine Katsifa

On the initiative of the Socialist Group and the signatures of MEPs Nikos Androulakis and Knut Fleckenstein, rapporteur of the accession process of Albania, an amendment was tabled at the plenary session of the European Parliament calling for a thorough investigation into the conditions of the death of Constantine Katsifa by the Albanian authorities.

The amendment, which was adopted by a large majority and included in the European Parliament's report on Albania's accession negotiations, refers to the conditions of Katsifa's death in Vouliarates, in north of Epirus, and indicates that it "expects the Albanian authorities that they investigate and clarify the treaties" that led to the loss of a human life ".

20a. notes the tension that has arisen after an episode in which Constantine Katsifas, a member of the Greek ethnic minority with dual nationality (Albanian and Greek), who died as a result of the Special Albanian Police (RENEA) lost life an anniversary for the Greek soldiers of the Second World War at Vouliarates on October 28, 2018; calls for restraint of all parties and expects the Albanian authorities to investigate and clarify the cases that led to the loss of a human life;
