The color of bubble gum, flamingo and purple wool – the bright pink – is the oldest color in the world, according to a recent study.
The researchers discovered ancient pink pigments over 1.1 billion years deep in the Sahara Desert in Mauritania from West Africa, making it the oldest colors in the record geological.
Nur Gueneli, who discovered the pigments in his doctoral studies at the Australian National University, is a brilliant pink color that is more than 500 years older than the oldest known colors and was produced by ancient oceanic organisms
