Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach signed to co-write Warner Bros.'s "Barbie" with Margot Robbie on the iconic doll portrait. Gerwig is also called to lead, although no agreement has yet been reached.

The studio had an eye on the duo to co-write the movie since Warner Bros. signed a contract with Mattel Films for distribution in January.

Robbie is also involved in the production of his production banner, LuckyChap, alongside Tom Ackerley of LuckyChap Entertainment and Robbie Brenner of Mattel. Josey McNamara and Ynon Kreiz are also producers.

Gerwig has been working hard on his upcoming adaptation of "Little Women" for Sony, which will feature Emma Watson, Saoirse Ronan and Meryl Streep.

As for Baumbach, the untitled movie Netflix of director "Meyerwitz Stories" starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson will be showing this fall.

Barbie, a global brand with sales of more than $ 3 billion worldwide, has over 150 roles in her 50 years, including Princess, President, Mermaid and Movie Star. Barbie's adaptation is the first announced contract announced by Mattel Films, recently established, directed by producer Robbie Brenner, as well as the first collaboration between Mattel Films and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Representatives of 360 management, Gerwig, Baumbach, Robbie and LuckChap. Gerwig is also replaced by UTA, while Robbie and LuckyChap are appointed by CAA.
