In a video posted on Twitter by the team, Gronk's former teammate, Julian Edelman, was seen queuing for a throw as he seemed to hold the Lombardi Trophy as a baseball bat.

Jason McCourty, a cornerback for the Patriots, said everyone thought the duo were pretending.
"No way will he hit the Lombardi Trophy."

Defender Duron Harmon said that if "anyone could do it and get away with it cheaply, it would be Mr. Gronkowski himself."

Gronkowski announced last month in a message posted on Instagram that he would retire from the league 9 years after his nomination by the Patriots.
