A second-round choice by the University of Arizona Patriots in 2010, Gronkowski quickly became the favorite of New England fans for his dazzling momentum after one of his many touchdown receptions. His arrival also coincided with the second wave of franchise success with head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. The Patriots have won at least the AFC Champion title in each of Gronkowski's last eight seasons with the team and have reached four Super Bowls, three of which have been won.
In his last game, Gronkowski had six receptions for 87 yards in the Patriots' 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams at Super Bowl 53. The final touchdown of his NFL career was a 29-yard gain who scored the only touchdown of the match, a dip of two yards by rookie Sony Michel.

Brady reacted to Gronkowski's retirement in a comment on the Instagram post: "Love u man !! [greatest of all time]!! It could not be a better person or a better teammate !!!!
