We got our first glimpse of Grand Theft Auto 5 running on PlayStation 5 during the big PlayStation Showcase last night, but the response was not kind. The series’ various Reddit pages are filled with memes hinting that the re-release looks alike, while major series YouTubers have taken Rockstar to task.
The trailer reveals improved graphics and gameplay, and to be fair to the developer, it’s better than on PS4. The problem is, it is more comparable to the PC version running better settings with higher resolution than a full and complete rebuild. Personally, while we weren’t planning a huge upgrade, we were expecting more from this first trailer.
On YouTube, the trailer has 13,000 upvotes and 20,000 down votes, so it didn’t go well at all. In fact, Rockstar has only scratched the surface here – we know there will be faster car modifications in GTA Online, for example – so we’re sure he has a lot more to say ahead of the game’s delayed March release date.
Not a good first impression for many fans, however.
