GTA 5 remasters must stop

Rockstar debuted current-gen Grand Theft Auto 5 gameplay at PlayStation Showcase, and fans aren’t at all impressed with another GTA 5 port.

With Grand Theft Auto 5 Turning eight on September 17, Rockstar Games is gearing up for a new re-release. Including PC version, GTA 5 will have been released four times on seven different platforms by March 2022. Rockstar seems to rely heavily on the game, having only released Red Dead Redemption 2 like a brand new title since GTA 5 initial launch. Many are increasingly frustrated with Rockstar’s insistence on pushing this game forward, especially since the current gen upgrade doesn’t seem to offer much.

Rockstar’s new trailer for GTA 5 on PS5 is rather disappointing. The developer is known for his incredible attention to detail and remarkable craftsmanship, and while GTA 5 was impressive in 2013, it’s not as impressive in 2021. The new trailer offers better graphics and almost instant character change in single player mode, but beyond that, it’s just GTA 5. The trailer closes even with a GTA Online teaser, similar to the one seen at the end of the first gameplay trailer in 2013 – but at the time, it was new and exciting. Now, this is something that gamers know more than well.

It’s been over a year since Rockstar announced this version of the game, and now GTA 5 the current version has been postponed until 2022. It will be almost two years between the announcement and the release of this remaster, a window typically seen in brand new games. Rockstar was likely affected by COVID-19 during development, but currently there is almost nothing in the new version that makes it seem like it’s worth buying full price. From what has been shown, this could have been an update to the existing version of the game for those with the new consoles.

Why GTA 5’s PS5 and Xbox Series X remaster looks like a cash grab

Rockstar has promised new content in this version of GTA 5, but he hasn’t presented anything yet. Fans have nothing to fear as it is virtually the same game with better visuals and performance improvements. A lot of work needs to be done if Rockstar is serious about players continuing to engage with it. Grand Theft Auto up to GTA 6, ranging from how the online mode of the game is both structured and performant, to exciting new content that appeals to gamers.

If there’s more to the re-release than Rockstar suggests – perhaps new story content or a gameplay mechanic that’s only possible on new consoles – that should be stated directly, rather than more teasing waves to come. The GTA 5 The announcement was a low point during the otherwise exciting PlayStation showcase. He stopped a show full of new games dead in its tracks to highlight a glorified port with little substance. If Rockstar had shown anything really new for this version of GTA 5, fans probably wouldn’t be so frustrated, but it looks like GTA 5 previous re-releases have already exhausted all possibilities of keeping the game fresh and new.

Fan reaction to this reissue has been largely negative. The GTA 5 The trailer was reported by dislikes on Rockstar and PlayStation’s YouTube channels, and comments suggest fans aren’t happy with Rockstar’s continued focus on this one game. Rumors suggest the developer is working on some PlayStation 2 remasters RGT trilogy, but nothing has been confirmed. These would be even more re-releases, but they would at least be something a little different – and possibly more exciting, depending on the work done to improve older games. Maybe Rockstar will shock fans with a GTA 5 harbor showing dramatic improvements, but right now it just looks like a soulless cash grab.
