Rockstar may be gearing up to ramp up marketing on GTA 6 or the next-gen port of GTA V as the developer hires someone to capture in-game footage.
A new Rockstar job listing appears to suggest the company is preparing to reveal GTA 6. Many fans are hopeful that the long-awaited follow-up to GTA 5 is just around the next corner Red Dead Redemption 2the exit and it looks like it could happen soon.
It has been more than 7 years since the release of GTA 5 on Xbox 360 and PS3, and while it might seem like a long time, the game has so far kept up to date. With a slew of content updates, a PC and Xbox One / PS4 port, and all kinds of new innovations in the game’s ever-popular online mode, many have wondered if Rockstar will ever want to move away from GTA 5. After all, why would the developer spend tons of money on a new game when the last one still has a lot of life left? That said, given the number of fans eagerly awaiting the title, GTA 6 has the potential to far exceed the profits of its predecessor.

That said, Rockstar is hiring someone to come on board as a “cinematic game capture artist” (via DualShockers). This position is basically the person who would go and capture all of the footage seen in the trailers, which would make them as cinematic as possible. Since Rockstar has a knack for creating trailers, it would basically come down to being a director of photography and director in the game. This allows the studio to use in-game footage exclusively in the trailer, rather than creating CG trailers or using concept imagery, which means what the studio is showing in marketing will be pretty close to the final product.
The fact that Rockstar is recruiting for the role probably means the studio is about to start ramping up marketing on something. It could be GTA 6 or it could just be new pictures for GTA 5 port, which is expected to feature new exclusive content for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. Either way, it looks like Rockstar is gearing up to present something in the weeks or months to come, and that in itself is exciting. Nevertheless.
It’s unclear what this project will be like, so fans shouldn’t be too excited for GTA 6 too early. If it’s GTA 6, this will likely put to rest or confirm some rumors such as the inclusion of a female protagonist. It’s also likely that, given how Rockstar works, this will only be a teaser, and the game won’t be out for a year or two. After all, the studio has a nasty habit of delaying games after revealing them.
