GTA Online’s tuner update is for Fast & Furious fans

Today, Rockstar released the latest big update for Grand Theft Auto Online. Los Santos Tuners talk about great cars, fast races and dangerous crimes, while hanging out with like-minded auto reducers. And unlike the past GTA Online Updates, Tuners not only adds things the community has long wanted, but it also finally gives gamers an official way to meet automobile. The end result is an update that is (mostly) a great time for solo players or large groups.

When I say Los Santos Tuners add a ton to the game, I really mean a ton. This is one of the biggest free updates to GTA Online the story. But the star of the expansion is the Car Meet, a new area found in southern Los Santos in an empty warehouse. Inside you’ll find other rigged cars owned by both NPCs and other players. As you walk through space, you can inspect the cars up close and take photos to commemorate the event. Players can also jump in their car and run the engine, open the hood, play music, and even adjust and change their wheels right in the car encounter. It’s a great experience, and because no one is allowed to shoot or run over people, it’s also a nice and relaxing hangout.

Players ran car encounters in GTA Onlinee for years, well before this update. But that still meant trusting other players to play it easy, which sometimes required finding private lobbies or quiet areas of the map. If you weren’t careful, an asshole might come and blow yourself up with a super laser. Now, Rockstar has officially given these players a way to meet each other, show off their rides, and even upgrade and race them down the street or on the included test track.

Some features, like the test track and the new clothing store, are locked behind a one-time membership fee of $ 50,000. But it also opens up the ability to test new cars before you buy them, and an LS Tuners reputation meter that grows as you spend more time interacting with other tuners. The higher your meter is, the more you will unlock new things like car mods. And best of all, you don’t have to be a member of Auto Meet to visit and hang out.

But as the Fast and furious movie franchise, this new update isn’t just about cool cars and street racing. (While there are a bunch of new street racing modes, one that includes cops and looks a lot like a F&F movie.) Shortly after getting into the car, you will meet two people who will offer you a chance to make money by committing crimes.

These “tuner contracts” include bank robberies and other robbery-type scenarios, although the payout is only around $ 170,000 and can be withdrawn solo or with a friend. On the plus side, these missions are also much easier to accomplish than a large, traditional RGT he ist. One of them took me around town, robbing several small banks with a bloated tuner car. Simple, but fun and exciting.

But to gain access to these new contracts and other tuner related business opportunities, you will need to own an auto shop. Yes, this update will make you buy yet anotherr fucking property. That much, I lose track of all the businesses and places I own in GTA online. Adding one more to the list is boring, but at least the Car Shop is more useful than previous additions, like the Sub.

One thing I love about this update is that you can focus on car encounters or criminal follies without having to engage with the other parts of the update. While the two parts of the game can intersect and feed into each other, this division gives players more options beyond the usual loop of “Buy a store, complete missions, repeat.” I also appreciate that the new street races require four players to start, so you aren’t stuck with empty racing lobbies.

For music lovers, the update adds a list of collectibles around the map that can expand your playlist. But for the first time in RGT history, you can now customize your music options. You can select the stations you like, making it easier for you to hear the music you like, not what you hate.

Rockstar promises more tuner contracts in the future, more tuners to buy and modify, more races and even armed go-karts. I’m excited for it all, which is a nice change of pace from how exhausted the game feels. Existing car meets fans and community, meanwhile, you no longer need to resort to workarounds. It is a big step towards the realization GTA Online more like the game fans want it to be and less like a cheerful battleground filled with jet-bikes and nuclear submarines.
