A guest at an attraction in Tennessee was reportedly injured after being thrown from a roller coaster cart on Monday.

Now the state has reportedly opened an investigation into the circumstances of the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster incident in Gatlinburg. A representative for the attraction did not immediately return a request for comment.

The injured guest, who has not been identified, allegedly “flew out of the cart entering the curve just past the Kodak camera,” according to an incident report cited by WATE. The runner was thrown about 10 feet before landing on a section of the roller coaster track.

The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster was closed following Monday’s incident. The ride, however, was cleared to reopen on Tuesday, by a letter from the state’s Amusement Devices unit to Gatinburg Mountain Coaster owner Jon Ogle obtained by WBIR.

The letter, which characterized the guest’s injuries as “serious”, confirmed that a third-party investigator found the ride to meet “applicable industry standards.” The Tennessee Amusement Devices Unit, a division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, has been contacted for more information.

A ministry compliance office is said to be investigating.

In 2016, a woman riding the same Gatlinburg roller coaster was thrown from a cart at the last corner, suffering from injuries to her wrists, knees, head and ribs, the Sevier News Messenger reported at the time. Police who investigated the incident discovered that the 44-year-old was not wearing a seat belt.
