Furfrou is here in the world of Pokémon GO! Debuting at the Fashion Week event in September 2021, the arrival of Furfrou also brings a new feature to the game – shapeshifting. This Pokémon Kalos and its different versions are all available in Pokémon GO, but some trendy styles are unique to the region or have certain requirements. WHERE CAN I REACH FURFROU?
You can find Furfrou in the wild! For Fashion Week (Tuesday, September 21 at 10 a.m. to Tuesday, September 28 at 8 p.m. local time), you can find Furfrou in several other ways. They are as follows:
- Photobomb spawn by taking a snapshot (three times a day, max)
- Complete the Field Research Event “Make 3 Nice Throws in a Row”
- Complete stage 3 of the timed search exclusive to the Fashion Week event
- Appears in 1 Star Raids
Apart from the Fashion Week event and appearing in the wild, Furfrou is also an encounter reward in Special Research Misunderstood Mischief – specifically for the step 7 task “Take a snapshot of your friend”.
Finally, there are some general rules for the appearance of Furfrou:
- Furfrou is only found in the wild in its Natural Shape / Size.
- by Furfrou ChThe iny version is not Pokémon GO live, but Shiny versions have been found in a datamine.
- Furfrou cannot be hatched from eggs.
HOW TO USE THE FORM CHANGE MECHANICS
With the arrival of Furfrou, a whole new mechanic is available in Pokémon GO – the Shape Shift Mechanism. The form change mechanism for Furfrou is accessible via the statistics page of each Furfrou. The number of style options available for the Furfrou you select will be limited to your location in the world and the Furfrou friendship level. According to Niantic, here’s how to perform a shapeshift:
- Select Furfrou in your Pokémon storage, then press the button Change of form button to bring up a menu that lists the available Trims.
- Select your favorite garnish.
- Change your Furfrou from one Trim to another The filling will cost 25 Furfrou Candy and 10,000 Stardust.
- To note: Currently, changing Furfrou’s Trim will also change Furfrou’s moveset. This is not intentional and Niantic is aware of the problem. It will be resolved in a future release (0.221).
HOW TO OBTAIN A SPECIFIC STYLE / TRIM / SHAPE?
The natural form of Furfrou is how Furfrou will appear in nature. The other nine styles are only available through the shape change mechanism and specific styles have an additional requirement. Some styles are limited to locations (shapeshifting can only be activated in a specific country / region / continent) or associated with a Pokémon’s stats (i.e. friendship level).
REMARK: Currently, changing Furfrou’s Trim will also change Furfrou’s moveset. This is not intentional and Niantic is aware of the problem. It will be resolved in a future release (0.221).
- Natural Shape / Size: Available in the wild around the world
- Matron’s garnish: Available as a shape shift worldwide
- Dandy trim: Available as a shape shift worldwide
- Beginner garnish: Available as a change of shape in the Americas
- Diamond trim: Available as a change of shape in Europe, Middle East and Africa
- Star trim: Available as a change of shape in Asia-Pacific
- The Queen garnish: Available as a change of form in France
- Kabuki garnish: Available as a change of form in Japan
- Pharaoh Trim: Available as a change of form in Egypt
- Heart filling: Unknown at this time – the current theory is that this is related to Furfrou’s friendship level. So grab a Furfrou and make it your Pokémon buddy!
