Gun unloaded in fight at Acadiana Mall, no injuries reported

Lafayette Police respond to Acadiana Mall after reports of gunfire.

According to LPD spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, officers responded to reports of a scuffle in the food court at Acadiana Shopping Center over Ambassador Caffery.

A gun was discharged during the incident and a shot was fired, police said. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Lafayette police say this was an isolated incident and are working to locate those involved.

The mall is closed for the rest of the evening.

Witnesses tell KATC that they heard gunshots and then saw people running. People were detained at the back of the stores by mall employees.
