Six people were shot dead in Illinois on Thursday night and cops were looking for the gunman, reports said.
The mass shooting took place around 4 p.m. in East St. Louis on a desolate street with vacant lots and overgrown businesses. The victims were rushed to a hospital in Saint-Louis, according to the KSDK.
SWAT teams surrounded a house later that evening as police used a plane, helicopter and drone to search for suspects, according to the report.
A getaway car then crashed into a light rail commuter train several blocks from the shooting, according to KMOV-4. About 10 passengers on the train were assessed for possible injuries, according to the station.
“We will have more information soon. But right now our hearts and prayers are with the victims and their families, ”East St. Louis Mayor Robert Eastern III said at the scene.
