I looked for an excuse to cover up the next one CHVRCHES album, Screen violence, outside August 27 through Glassnote Records, and now have more than reason.
The Scottish synth-pop group has teamed up with Jean Charpentier for two additional special remixes.
The iconic director of The Thing, Halloween, Escape From New York, They live, In the mouth of madness and many other horror classics that define the genre, and legendary actor, writer and songwriter John Carpenter reworked CHVRCHES ‘recent single “Good girls”. Listen now.
In turn, CHVRCHES reworked the work of John Carpenter “Turn the bones”, from his recently released album, Lost Themes III: Living After Death. You can listen to this song here.
Both remixes are now available digitally and will be released on 7 ”vinyl on December 10 – available for pre-order through Sacred Bones now.
“As horror fans we know John Carpenter is the godfather and the gold standard, so we are delighted to be working with him in any capacity,” said Lauren Mayberry, singer of CHVRCHES. “His films and music have had such an impact on us over the years, and without the stories he created I’m not sure the concept of Screen violence (and the female narratives in the album) would exist as they do.
“On each album, we have” remixes “but given the themes of this disc, we had the idea that we could perhaps have a song reinvented by a composer who worked in this cinematographic universe”, continues- she. “John was at the top of our wishlist, but we never really thought he would respond, let alone return anything better than the original.”
Responsible for most of the horror genre’s most notable soundtracks in the fifteen films he both directed and composed, John Carpenter said: “Chvrches contacted us through our tour director, asking us if we would be interested in upcoming album. They sent us three or four tracks to listen to and decide which one we wanted to remix, and we went from there. We chose the trail we did because we connected to it the most and thought it would suit our style the best. After we finished our remix, we asked them if they could also remix one of our songs back, and they thought that was a great idea.
