Now that the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7 have been officially announced, attention has shifted to the much-anticipated Apple MacBook Pro refresh that has been rumored for most of this month. 2021. Bloomberg reports today that the first ‘M1X’ Macs are still on track for this year.
In the latest edition of his Light up bulletin, Bloomberg Mark Gurman is stepping up his efforts on his previous reports regarding Apple’s ongoing transition to Silicon. Gurman writes that the M1X chip is “still available for 2021” and will first appear in new MacBook Pro models “within the next month”. The new chip is also expected to make its way to a high-end Mac mini “at some point.”
The M1X was developed in two different variants, according to the report. Both versions of the chip feature a 10-core design with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. The distinguishing feature between the two variants will be the graphics cores, with Apple offering both 16 and 32 graphics core configurations.
Bloomberg also continues to announce that Apple is working on “better chips for a new Mac Pro” as well as an “M2 for future low-end MacBook Air, iMac and MacBook Pro”.
Gurman writes:
The new MacBook Pro did not appear during Apple’s product unveiling in September, but it is still expected to launch in the coming weeks. Apple typically releases its main Mac new releases in October. So stay tuned.
The new MacBook Pro lineup has been announced for the set of 2021. The machines are expected to be available in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations with a mini-LED display, redesigned chassis, SD card slot, HDMI port. and MagSafe for charging. Apple should also remove the controversial Touch Bar.
