Just hours after the Sharks made a splash, the deadline for trading in the NHL is on the horizon.

The Sharks woke Monday at three points from the Calgary Flames for first place in the Pacific Division and the Western Conference. They are much deeper than they were a day ago, but now the Flames (and the rest of the West) have a chance to answer.

Will Calgary strengthen its already formidable group? Can the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets land the missing piece in the front? And how will the Vegas Golden Knights organize their reminder?

Although Matt Duchene, Gustav Nyquist and Mats Zuccarello have new homes, many intriguing names remain on the market. How many of them will have new addresses in the afternoon?

Mark Stone was the most important name to move, and the Nashville Predators turned their attacking corps into mini-metamorphoses. The Sharks' top nine forwards are up to anyone's, and the West Conference looks like an air fight in the air.

1:12 PM PT: During a teleconference with reporters, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said defender Erik Karlsson was on a daily basis. He also does not want to comment on the status of Karlsson's extension.

Dahlen, son of former Sharks forward Ulf Dahlen, will carry the same number his father was wearing in San Jose when he will join AHL Barracuda.

12:51 PT: The Sharks and Canucks exchanged their hopes in Sweden. Jonathan Dahlen, choice for the second round of 2016 in San Jose, and Linus Karlsson, choice for the third round of 2018 in Vancouver.

12:33 PT: Marcus Johansson will be heading to the Boston Bruins, said Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports in Boston.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks exchanged spare parts for trading spots between Erik Gudbranson and Tanner Pearson.

12:19 PT: Trade is going strong and another big name is in the works: Wayne Simmonds will find former Philadelphia Flyers coach Peter Laviolette in Nashville, according to reports.

12:00 PM PT: The deadline is officially passed! There may be transactions still announced, but no transactions can be submitted after this time.

Mark Stone, the latest Golden Knights winger, has just confirmed several reports and told TSN that he had agreed to an extension of contract with Vegas.

11:48 PT: Golden Knights prospect Erik Brannstrom will travel to Ottawa in exchange for Stone.

Brannstrom, a Swedish defender moving a puck that made comparisons with Erik Karlsson, was one of three first-round picks from Vegas in his first try in 2017.

11:40 PT: The Flames made a move, but not for an attacker. Defender Oscar Fantenberg of the Los Angeles Kings will travel to Calgary.

The Predators have also made an exchange within their division. Minnesota Wild forward Mikael Granlund will travel to Nashville with Kevin Fiala turning around.

McKenzie also reported on TSN's "TradeCentre" that "everything indicates that" the Golden Knights are acquiring Ottawa Senators winger Mark Stone. A counter-move to Vegas?

11:17 PT: Despite the uncertainty surrounding goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and winger Artemi Panarin, the Columbus Blue Jackets are go for that. They added Adam McQuaid, a blue liner, as they were trying to gain ground in the very open metropolitan division.

The Colorado Avalanche is also at the heart of a playoff race, and the center would have been added to the Derick Brassard Center. This is the second time Brassard has been traded for a month, having been shipped to Florida by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Two of the five declared competitors are playing in the Sharks division and would likely be their first two opponents in the playoffs (assuming they get to that point). Vegas, in particular, is looking for help.

The Desert Dogs are only three points off the Wild Card's last place in the West and have a game to play. Do some people tinker with what they need to get in?

8:40 PT: Sharks may not be finished. San Jose reportedly received calls to defender Joakim Ryan.

Ryan has not played since Jan. 22 and appears to be firmly established as the # 8 defender of the team.

7:43 PT: Winnipeg, the first division of the Central Division, is set to acquire the New York Rangers Kevin Hayes Center.

7:37 PT: In their effort to participate in the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired New Jersey Devils goaltender Keith Kinkaid.
