Nearly two years after Adam West's death, Sunday Family Guy Finale bid farewell to the TV legend, who ruled the (mostly) good people of Quahog, R.I, during the 17 seasons of the Fox series.
The news was broadcast informally at the beginning of the episode, when Lois' sister joined the family for dinner. Carol mentioned how sad she was since West's death, urging Stewie to look up from her phone and say, "Wait, Uncle Adam is dead? Sheesh, how many people did this show kill?
West's untimely death provoked a bitter mayoral race between deadly enemies Brian Griffin and Glenn Quagmire – none of them having to make important decisions for the good of an entire city, although one can argue that their predecessor set the bar very low. Mayor West made a final appearance near the end of the episode, saving the two candidates from dying in a traffic accident. Unfortunately, West is not the only character Family Guy recently killed because of the death of their vocal actor. Peter's boss, Angela – expressed by the late Carrie Fisher, who died of a heart attack in December 2016 – was buried in a moving ceremony during an episode in December 2018.
