Hailey Baldwin no longer followed former Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz on Instagram after being fired for “moral failures.”
Lentz, who baptized Baldwin’s husband Justin Bieber in a bathtub five years ago, revealed in an Instagram post Thursday that he had been “unfaithful” to his marriage to his wife Laura.
“This failure is on me, and I alone and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Lentz said in the long post. “I am now starting a trust-building journey with my wife, Laura and my children and am taking the real time to work and heal my own life and seek the help I need. I am deeply sorry that I have broken the trust of many people we have loved to serve and understand that this news can be very difficult and confusing for people to hear and process.
Hillsong founding pastor Brian Houston last week confirmed Lentz’s dismissal in an email to staff and worshipers, according to Religion News Service, denouncing “leadership issues and breaches of trust” among the reasons for Lentz’s ouster.
“I know this will shock you, but please know that this action was not taken lightly and was done in the best interests of everyone, including Pastor Carl,” Houston said in the post.
Lentz, who said Thursday that he and his family “don’t know what this next chapter will look like,” still follows Baldwin, 23, and many other celebrities on Instagram.
