Jamie Lee Curtis presided over the wedding ceremony for a Halloween franchise super-fan who suffered from terminal cancer.
Jamie Lee Curtis, star of the Halloween franchise, celebrated the marriage of a terminally ill horror fan before his death.
Halloween Super fan Anthony Woodle has been battling esophageal cancer since 2019 and his plans to marry his longtime girlfriend Emilee have been postponed due to his illness.
The ceremony took place from the hospital bed of Woodle, 29, with Curtis, an Internet-ordained minister, officiating over a discussion with Zoom. Woodle was an aspiring director in contact with Rough House Productions, the production house involved in the reboot of the Halloween movies, that’s how he first connected with Curtis. When Curtis was first made aware of Woodle’s situation and his love for iconic slasher films, she called him personally. During the conversation, she offered to tell him secrets about the making of the films before also offering to marry him with his fiancee. The ceremony began with Woodle, Emilee and their immediate family at 10:30 p.m. at the hospital where Woodle was being treated. He died shortly after, at 11:17 p.m. the same evening.

Ahead of the ceremony, Woodle and Emilee also had the chance to watch the upcoming sequel and the 12th episode of the Halloween franchise, Halloween kills. In an interview with The speech, Curtis described how Woodle and Emilee were the very first foreigners in the world to see the new movie. Although Curtis mentioned that she never expected to speak publicly about the event, she beamed as she recalled how privileged it was to perform the ceremony, calling the experience “an affirmation of the life ”and saying how happy she was for Woodle’s family that they must have this moment together.
The unreleased horror film, Halloween kills, was written and directed by David Gordon Green, to whom Curtis credits the generous idea of hosting the private screening of Woodle and his current wife. The film will directly follow the macabre events of 2018 Halloween and stars Curtis in his iconic role of Laurie Strode.
Directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier, Halloween kills stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak and Judy Greer. The film hits theaters on October 15, 2021. Its follow-up, Halloween ends is currently slated for a theatrical release in 2022.
