Halo Infinite dataminers leak new vehicles, weapons and more

Three of the memes found in the Halo beta files, including the "Its good" growl.

Halo Infinite latest multiplayer tech preview (or, in real terms, the beta) has been live, and has been for a few days now. And while the beta only offers a small taste of what will be available in the online shooter once it releases later this year, dataminers and curious fans have been digging through the files. of the game and found quite a few. An unexpected discovery: Infinite halo is filled with memes.

Editor marcopolo 444 shared a bunch of links to images and content that were taken directly from the ongoing Xbox and PC beta testing. Some of these things are cool, but not exactly surprising. For example, dataminers found vehicles that are currently not available in the Tech Preview, including visually revamped versions of the High-flying banshee and the classic Scorpion tank. Also found buried in the files were a ton of emblems, a staple of Halo games of the past. But notably, many of these emblems (as well as some weapon ornaments) seem to be directly inspired by Internet memes. For some reason.

There is an alien growl with a bowler hat and big cheerful eyes sitting in a fire that seems to be a direct reference to the famous “Its good“cartoon. I also spotted a recreation of the old internet meme featuring this guy who talked about aliens all the time on History Channel, and a version of the classic “The classic Brent Rambo”Gif. In addition, a cartoon reenactment of the infamous rock-with-a-fanny-pack image. And a weapon charm that seems quote directly from a 4chan post that has become a semi-popular meme.

All memes found in the Halo files.

Now to be fair Halo and 343, the leaked files also contain a lot of content and images unrelated to memes. But damn, there are a lot more memes here than I expected. I’m not immediately against the appearance of memes in games; after all, they’re part of pop culture and the way we communicate with each other online. However, something in these images looks very forced and out of place. Halo is allowed to be wacky, but it seems a little sad.

On the flip side, I’m into a lot of the armor and vehicle accessories that people have discovered in the beta files, including what appears to be unlockable Christmas-related gear to make your Spartans more festive.

One thing to keep in mind when looking at all of the datamined content is that some of this might be changed or removed before the game is released. It’s not because these files were found in the version. most recent beta they are guaranteed. And of course, it’s likely that 343 will add more to Halo by the game’s launch in December.

There were some silly bugs and server problems, not to mention the delays, but so far (even in this early and unfinished state), Infinite halo seems to be in good shape. Now let’s wait and see if 343 and Halo can stick the landing on December 8 when it arrives on Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC.
