‘Halo Infinite’ is good, everyone says

[ad_1]

The Halo Infinite Tech Test is still ongoing as players get their hands on the game for the first time. As expected, it’s packed with a ton of technical issues that will need to be addressed before launch, to the point of a test like this in the first place, including poor PC performance, which will require tuning.

But when you get past all the technical issues and try to get a general idea of what the testers think about the game, the temperature is… extremely hot. Scalding, practically.

Almost all the impressions I see from players in technical flight have been positive. You can go to Twitter, reddit, anywhere, and the reaction is generally the same, it potentially sounds like the best Halo multiplayer release of 343 to date, and echoes the ‘golden age’ of Halo 3 or Halo CE.

The game is supposed to be less “modernized” than Halo 5, with cuts to things like sprinting, while still retaining the “feel” of the original games. Even in those early bot matches, the vibe is that 343 did it really well this time around, and the extra year to put this game into fighting form was well worth the delay.

Halo Infinite is an extremely important project for Microsoft and Xbox, as it is meant to be the “platform” to launch all future Halo content for at least the next generation. Whether that means a ‘changing world’ type deal or true sequels is unclear, but anything added over time will no doubt be on Game Pass, while Halo multiplayer remains free this time around. , same without Game pass.

Halo Infinite is entering a very crowded shooting marketplace that has shifted, over the years, from traditional Halo gameplay, to battles royals or tactical shooters or hero arenas. It will have to re-establish itself as a leading player, and Microsoft is aiming for a return to esports. From what Infinite looks like, it looks like he’s definitely on this trail.

We still don’t have a definitive release date for Halo Infinite, which everyone is assuming more or less late November. The longer this lasts, the more the idea might creep into mind that we might face another delay this year, but Microsoft has maintained that will not happen again. We are therefore waiting to receive an announcement to confirm it. With Sony postponing Horizon Forbidden West until next year, Xbox has a pretty empty stage to itself, what if Halo Infinite shines? This will be one of the greatest achievements of the Xbox brand for several years.

There will undoubtedly be more testing and alphas and betas before launch so more players can participate. I will say yes, it’s possible that die-hard fans who managed to sign up for Waypoint and take this test are more likely to like a Halo game than the general public, so maybe there is a bias here. And yet, if die-hard Halo fans are loving this new Halo game… that also seems like a good sign to me.
