After a significant delay and several trailers, a select group of gamers have access to the Halo Infinite Tech Preview, or Beta, this weekend. The beta began on July 29 and will end on Monday, August 2 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET. Players signed up for the beta through Halo Insider and can now install it on their Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or PC through Steam.

While players will not be able to access the Halo Infinite campaign during the Tech Preview this weekend, they will have the opportunity to try out the game’s next free multiplayer. Throughout the beta, different types playlists will be available, which will pit players against both bots and other players.

While the player matches will continue as in any other Halo title, the bot matches will be a little different. As part of a playlist called Bot Slayer, these matches will get tougher and play out across different maps as the tech preview progresses.

Developer 343 Industries is also asking players to play regular matchmaking games at certain times corresponding to when they would expect a heavy server load for the game. Naturally, those times are from 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. 12 AM to 9 PM PT / 1 AM ET July 30, August 31 and 1, all late night in the US on weekends.

Surprisingly, gamers will get a glimpse of more than just Halo Infinite’s multiplayer this weekend. 343 Industries also gave players access to certain parts of the Battle Pass and Store. Tech Preview participants even received in-game currency to purchase additional items with the Battle Pass. However, the progress made during the beta, both in the Battle Pass and General XP, will not extend beyond this beta.

Halo Infinite is currently set to launch this holiday season for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. While we currently don’t have a concrete launch date, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has reiterated that the game’s release date has been reduced to “a few weeks.”
