Halo Infinite will be on PC at launch, Microsoft confirms at E3 2019

Microsoft shared new details about Halo Infinite. Chris Lee, director of Halo FPS, began by confirming that the segment "Discover the Hope" presented by Microsoft at E3 2019 was actually the opening sequence of the campaign game. He also confirmed that it was not CG, but rather a catch in the engine.

Halo Infinite is running on the all-new Slipspace engine, in which Lee said Microsoft had "heavily" invested. This is clearly very important because Lee said that it was the foundation for the "next years of the Halo experience". This is the most powerful "tools" game that Microsoft has created for Halo. He added that Microsoft's ambition for Halo Infinite could not be achieved nor achieved with the company's previous engines.

Halo Infinite is a starter for Project Scarlett in Holiday 2020, but the game also arrives on Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X. In addition, it will be launched on PC alongside other versions, confirmed Lee.

Lee teased that Halo Infinite will use the "Scarlett Power", though he does not share details of how the game will use the system's denser specifications.

Also in the interview, Lee briefly talked about the new "Pilot" character in the Halo Infinite trailer. He confirmed that the pilot is a new character from the Halo Universe. At the beginning of the trailer, the pilot thinks he's going to die. He records a message to his family. When things look bleak, he finds Master Chief floating in space. Everything changes, and Master Chief comes back online to save the world again.

Lee said Halo Infinite would spend a lot of time "explaining" in detail who the driver is and what it means for the story. The pilot will be featured more in the Halo Infinite campaign, but Lee has not said anything more about the character.

Finally, Lee spoke about the artistic direction of Halo Infinite. He said the game would embrace "Halo's complete inheritance". Lee said the new Master Chief costume was mainly inspired by his Halo 3 look, with some Halo 4 and Halo 5-based flourishes, as well as Halo Legends. Overall, Lee said that Microsoft wanted to give Master Chief a "distinct, new and special" look.
