One of the sons of the late leader of al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, is becoming the new leader of the militant group, according to the state department.

The United States is offering a reward for information on Hamza bin Laden, who is about 30 years old and based near the Afghan – Pakistan border, of a million dollars.

State Department The Counter Terrorism Rewards Program released the award on its website on Thursday night. Hamza bin Laden is married to the daughter of Mohammed Atta, the main pirate in the air and brain of Al Qaeda attacks in September 2001 against the World Trade Center.

Hamza's father, Osama bin Laden, was killed by seals from the US Navy in Pakistan in 2011. According to letters uncovered by the seals of the navy during the raid on his hideout in Pakistan, Hamza wrote to the leader of 39, al-Qaeda, born in Saudi Arabia, asking to be trained him. Two years ago, the CIA released a wealth of files found on a computer in the compound of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. According to analyzes by the Washington-based conservative think-tank Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, audio and video recordings accompanying these documents seemed to indicate that Hamza bin Laden's wedding took place in Iran.

Michael Evanoff, deputy secretary for diplomatic security at the State Department, said that if Hamza bin Laden was probably hiding near the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, he could try to move to Iran or even to head south of Central Asia.

"It could be anywhere, however," he said at a news briefing on Thursday.

Osama bin Laden, the son of a Saudi billionaire of construction and real estate development, reportedly had at least 20 children of half a dozen wives and he was himself the 17th on 52 children. The letters discovered in Pakistan after his assassination suggest that Hamza Bin Laden could have been one of his favorites.
