In our last YouTube video, we collaborated with the Apple Watch Series 5 to check what's new.
With regard to design, the Apple Watch Series 5 is identical to the Apple Watch The 4 Series offers the same larger screen as the 3, 40 and 44mm Series case size options. There are two new materials this year, however.2017
Titanium, a material never used before, is lighter and more durable than stainless steel, and $ 100 more expensive, starting at $ 799 (stainless steel models start at $ 699). Other novelty this year, the ceramic ($ 1299), which we had in 2016 and 2017, but that was not an option in 2018. Ceramic and titanium Apple Watch the models are considered as "Edition" high-end models.
Apple still offers standard stainless steel and aluminum, which starts at $ 399. Like last year, there are only GPS models and GPS + LTE models.
In addition to the new materials, the other major modification of the Series 5 series is a permanent display function. As its name suggests, the Series 5 display Apple Watch is always turned on so you can watch your wrist to see the time, your complications, your notifications or, with the Workout application running, your exercise stats.
Of course, the screen darkens when you are not using it, but the watch face is clearly visible without you having to lift your wrist.
There was no processor change in Series 5; therefore, although Apple claims to use an S5 chip, the processor is identical to the Series 4. Display enhancements, a low-power display driver, and an effective power management IC display.
According to Apple, the battery life of the 5 Series should last until 18 hours, just like the 4 Series despite the Always On display, but we found mixed results.
Some of us here at MacRumeurs The battery life has not changed, but others believe that the battery is discharging faster than before. Apple may have optimizations in future software updates to solve battery problems.
Other changes include 32GB of internal storage, probably for the new standalone WatchOS 6 App Store, and a new compass feature. The Compass feature is available in a Compass application that shows you your direction, incline, latitude, and longitude. It is also used in the Maps application so you can finally see which direction you are heading.
For LTE Apple Watch Owners, there is an updated Emergency SOS feature that allows you to contact emergency services in the country where you are when it is activated, which is pleasant with peace of mind. In previous models, this feature was limited to the emergency services of the country of purchase.
Overall, although the 5 Series has some useful features, there is no compelling reason to update it if you already have a Series 4. If you have a Series 1, 2, 3, or Original Apple WatchThere is a lot more to win in Series 5 and it's potentially a worthwhile upgrade.
