The Tory host referred to an op-ed by former member of Special Advocate Andrew Weissman’s office pleading for Trump to be investigated and potentially prosecuted by the next administration.

“If that’s what they want to do, if Biden ever becomes president, I would tell Trump to forgive you and your family,” Hannity said on his Fox News show Monday night.

Hannity made similar comments on his radio show earlier today, warning that Democrats “want this witch hunt to continue in perpetuity.”

Hannity is one of Trump’s strongest media supporters and is said to be a major influence on the president.

His comments came days after Rep. Matt GaetzMatthew (Matt) GaetzGaetz: Trump “ should forgive everyone, ” including himself, to quash Liberal “ bloodlust. ” (R-Fla.), One of Trump’s greatest allies in Congress, also urged the president to forgive himself and those around him.

“President Trump should forgive Michael Flynn,” Gaetz said in an interview with Fox News. “He should forgive the Thanksgiving turkey. He should forgive everyone, from himself to the officials in his administration to Joe Exotic if he has to.”

No president has ever tried to forgive himself, and many jurists are skeptical that such a decision would be constitutional. When President Nixon was considering forgiving himself at the end of his term, the Department of Justice issued a memo in 1974 saying it would not be legal.
