ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Shea Patterson is expected to play Michigan's seventh game in his first game of the season on Saturday night against Middle Tennessee, although coach Jim Harbaugh said he would like substitute Dylan McCaffrey to also plays.

Patterson had 2,600 yards and 22 touchdowns last season, his first with the Wolverines after his transfer from Mississippi. McCaffrey played six games last season and only tried 15 assists.

Harbaugh was less clear on the back end on Monday, saying he had not yet decided who would be at the top of the depth rankings. Michigan lost Karan Higdon and Chris Evans from last year 's team.

The Wolverines will be without offensive lineman Andrew Stueber this season. Harbaugh said he had a torn ACL.
