Harris’ move to One Observatory Circle, the official residence of the Vice President, was delayed due to “the need for home repairs which are more easily done with the house unoccupied.” The Vice President’s residence is located at the United States Naval Observatory.

CBS reports that the Navy has requested that maintenance, which includes replacing the chimney liners, be performed.

The second family owns several homes, including a condo in Washington, DC, but the residence is not following proper security measures, the outlet said.

Blair House, opposite the White House, has been used as a guesthouse for visiting leaders and their delegations since 1942. The historic house also housed President Biden and his family the day before its inauguration.

It’s unclear how long Harris and Emhoff will stay at Blair House.

Harris was sworn in as the 49th Vice President on Wednesday with Biden, the 46th President of the United States.

The White House did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.
