Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were set to expose the royal whom they claim to have made racist remarks before the birth of their son Archie – before deeming the detail too “damaging”.
In an updated edition of the “Finding Freedom” biography seen by Page Six, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand allege the couple considered “sharing this detail” in their sensational TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Markle, however, shut down the idea and reportedly told Winfrey, “I think it would be very damaging to them.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed the unnamed royal asked “how dark” their unborn child would be. Markle made the initial reveal, with Winfrey asking Harry if he would name the royal.
“This conversation I’ll never share, but back then it was awkward; I was a little shocked, Harry replied.
He said, however, that the royal was not Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip.
Scobie and Durand said unresolved race allegations threatened the reputation of the Royal Family around the world, with a Buckingham Palace staff member telling them:
“There is a feeling that if it is ignored it will go away, but surely by now they should have learned that this never happens?” “
Markle reportedly found the interview – in which she claimed to have been left suicidal behind the palace walls – “cathartic” and “liberating.” The queen didn’t look at him, the book says.
The updated edition is due for release next week and also alleges that members of the royal family were “quietly happy” that the Duchess of Sussex missed Prince Philip’s funeral in April because they feared she would. “Make a show” if she showed up.
