Ohio State will be down from an expected attacking starter on Saturday, while the status of a defensive starter is still pending.
Junior offensive lineman Harry Miller, who missed last season’s opener against Minnesota, will again be unavailable for the Buckeyes, according to the team’s situation report. Senior safety Josh Proctor, who started against the Gophers but left the game in the fourth quarter with an apparent shoulder injury, will be a decision to be made during the game.

In Miller’s place, red-shirted rookie Luke Wypler is set to make his second career start at center. Wypler was ranked champion after the Minnesota game and said on Wednesday he would prepare as the starter until told otherwise.
“I think Luke is ready to start, I think he did a really good job in the first game,” head coach Ryan Day said Thursday. “It’ll be a new challenge. They’re playing with a 0-nose, and so they’re going to have someone lined up with him, and it’ll be a new thing for him, a new opportunity for him to grow.”
When Proctor lost to Minnesota, red-shirted second-year safety Bryson Shaw closed the last possessions in open safety for the Buckeyes. Shaw was also ranked champion, and Day called the Maryland native a “calming force” for Ohio State high school this week.
“I’ve been biding my time and I feel like my time has come, I feel like it has come,” Shaw said on Wednesday. “I know that all securities have a lot to contribute, including myself, and I am just excited for the future of this team and this secondary. I think we’re just getting started. ”
Fifth-year senior defensive tackle Jerron Cage is another notable Buckeye who will be a game decision for Ohio State. Cage was unavailable last week, as Ohio State pivoted Haskell Garrett, Taron Vincent, Antwuan Jackson and Ty Hamilton to the two defensive tackle points.
Cameron Brown and Sevyn Banks, Ohio State’s scheduled outside cornerbacks entering this season, were not included in the Buckeyes’ situation report on Saturday after missing the season opener. Brown was unavailable last week and has not traveled with the team. Banks was not featured in last week’s status report, but did not play for Ohio State despite being dressed up.
Real rookie Denzel Burke and rookie Ryan Watts started in place of Brown and Banks in Game One of the season, with Burke being the only Ohio State corner to rank a champion, but it looks like they’ll have Banks. and Brown available today.
The Nationwide No.3 Buckeyes are scheduled to kick off at noon against the No.12 Oregon at Ohio Stadium.
