Harry Potter: The beta version of Wizards Unite is available in Australia and New Zealand

Harry Potter: The wizards unite, the Pokémon Go style smartphone game co-developed by Niantic and WB Games, is now available in open beta in Australia and New Zealand. Players from both countries can now play this game on iOS and Android. This announcement follows a few false starts for the game, which featured on the iOS App Store last month before being quickly removed.

Back in 2016, Pokemon Go also launched in Australia and New Zealand first, then in the United States, Europe and the rest of the world. However, at the time, it was possible to access the game very early on Android by downloading its APK file from a third-party source. This does not seem to be the case for Wizard's Unite. Although we managed to install the application with the help of this method, this one refused to load content beyond a brief initial tutorial.

Unite the magician is meant to be a much more complex game than Pokemon Go was at launch, with artefacts to collect, characters to save, and a complex set of skills to level up. When we tried it ourselves in March, we found that it meant that it was harder to understand immediately that Pokemon GoThe relatively simple game loop of Pokemon Hunting and Gym Fights. However, its developers have noted that the game's features may change during the beta.

Harry Potter: Wizard's Unite is available for download now in Australia and New Zealand on iOS and Android. A global release date has not been announced yet, but you can sign up to receive updates on the Wizards Unite website or pre-register on the Google Play Store.
