Harry Styles has just added another accolade to his growing list of accomplishments. Featured on the cover of the December 2020 issue of US Vogue, he is the first man to feature the title in solo fashion.
In the new issue, Styles talks about his Tokyo travel plans, his music, and – of course – his clothing choices, which are known to blur the lines between the sexes.

“As a kid I really liked fancy dress,” Styles told Vogue. “I was really young and wore tights for [a school play]. I remember it was crazy for me to wear a pair of tights. And maybe that’s where it all started! “
The cover story features Styles in a maxi dress, designed by Gucci’s Alessando Michele, paired with a fitted tuxedo jacket. He also poses topless in a skirt inspired by the Chopova Lowena kilt.

The photos were taken by sought-after photographer Tyler Mitchell. His career was taken to great heights in 2018 when he became the first black photographer to shoot a cover of Vogue. Beyoncé was his subject on this occasion.
Earlier in the year, Styles made headlines after appearing on the cover of Beauty Papers, a biannual London-based magazine, in fishnets and lipstick.
While Styles was by no means the first man to challenge gender stereotypes about clothing, he has become one of the few mainstream artists to do so.

“What women wear. What men wear. For me, that’s not all about that,” Styles told The Guardian last year. “If I see a nice shirt and someone says to me: ‘But it’s for women’. I think, “Okaaaay?” It doesn’t make me want to wear it any less … I think as soon as you feel more comfortable with yourself, everything becomes a lot easier.
