NEW YORK – Authorities announced that a spectator faces charges of murder and trespass after being attacked at wrestler Bret "The Hitman" Hart while he delivered a speech at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night in Brooklyn.
The bond was set at $ 1,500 for Zachary Madsen of Lincoln, Nebraska, during a hearing held Sunday night. The judge also issued protective orders prohibiting Madsen from approaching Hart, who was not injured, and a security guard.
Other wrestlers helped master the attacker and Hart resumed his speech.
Prosecutors said in court that Madsen had told the police that he "felt that the timing was right" to tackle the legend of the fight.
His lawyer said that Madsen was "nice and cooperative" and had no criminal convictions.
WWE has called Madsen "an exuberant fan".
Madsen had already had a problem with a fighter in Lincoln.
