Hasbro abandons Gina Carano’s Star Wars action figures

Last week Lucasfilm cut ties with The Mandalorian‘s Gina Carano on social media posts the studio has deemed “obnoxious.” It remains to be seen how the show’s producers handle the absence of her character in Season 3. But it looks like we shouldn’t expect any new Cara Dune merchandise to hit shelves in the near future. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro has abandoned plans to create more action figures based on Carano’s likeness. The company has also canceled existing pre-orders for the toys. This is why Cara Dune toys could soon be much harder to find.

THR also obtained a statement from a spokesperson for online retailer BigBadToyStore. You can read what she had to say below:

“The Star wars The Black Cara Dune figurine was released in 2020 and sold out shortly after the inventory was received, ”the spokesperson said. “Hasbro has planned another production run and we are accepting pre-orders for that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro has no longer been allowed to produce more than this figure. “

Fans generally responded well to Carano Mandalorian character since the series premiered on Disney + in 2019. But over the past few months, she has received backlash for mocking transgender pronouns, discouraging mask wearing during the pandemic, and spreading baseless allegations of fraud election campaign during the recent US presidential election. However, the studio apparently had had enough when Carano again shared an article comparing modern conservatives to victims of the Holocaust.

Rumor has it that Carano was also in line to star in the next Disney + movie. Rangers of the New Republic series. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Carano also needs new representation now that her agency, UTA, has abandoned her as a client.

Waiting, The Mandalorian Season 3 is slated to begin production in April. The new season could arrive on Disney + as early as this fall.
