Hasbro unveils new STAR WARS figures to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary. Is the sequel trilogy MISSING?

Jar Jar Binks gets a new figure to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary, but Rey doesn’t. It’s freezing, Hasbro.

“Where’s Rey?” Indeed.

Hasbro Pulse Celebrates Lucasfilm’s 50th Anniversary With Newly Announced Series Of Star Wars: The Black Series The figures. The announcement was made during the Fan First Friday event, and includes everything from the Prequel Trilogy, to the Original Trilogy, to Clone Wars and Rebels.

But what is curiously missing are the announcements of Disney Star Wars characters After Trilogy.

Hmm.

The first are the Episode i figures in packaging from the 90s. The initial wave includes Quin-Gon Jinn, Wife Windu, Jar Jar Binks and one Battle Droid. They appear to be Best Buy exclusives that are on preorder now.

It’s good to see The phantom menace get love in the form of a toy. But what kind of bizarre world do we live in when The phantom menace gets toys on the Disney Sequel Trilogy to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary?

(Oh, okay, maybe it’s because George Lucas didn’t sign the Disney Sequels. Or the Sequel Toys nearly destroyed the Star Wars toy franchise.)

The characters that really turn me on are the retro Kenner style characters celebrating the original trilogy. We have Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi with a plastic cape and a Java rocking a fabric dress. This in addition to Greedo, Kenner Style. Now if we could just get a Hammerhead, Walrus Man, and Snaggletooth to go all-in on Kenner Cantina.

These figures are pre-order on Amazon and are said to be Amazon exclusives. They can be pre-ordered here.

There were also new characters for the Vintage line, including Endor Leia and Paploo the Ewok.

In the future, Hasbro will release more figures of Star Wars: The Bad Lot and The Mandalorian. Two different versions of Lando Calrissian are also in the works.

But apparently no mention of the characters in Sequel Trilogy. Again.

same Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul of “Filoni-verse” will celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary.

But Rey won’t.

His possible that Hasbro will eventually release some numbers from the sequel to help celebrate.

But it’s also very possible that they won’t, given that many Sequel Trilogy figures can still be obtained cheaply years after release.
