Hatch: all about the next Google Chromebook

Google would work on a brand new Chromebook developed internally under the code name "Hatch" in several reference lists and other leaks in recent months. Rumors about the capabilities of the laptop were also shared, thus painting a fairly clear picture.

With the latest leak featuring the latest Intel Core processors and a higher RAM than most Chromebooks, the Hatch is becoming a worthy successor to the excellent Pixelbook of 2017.

With that, Google clearly has a lot to do with this version of Chromebook, especially if you take into account the losses caused by the failure of the Pixel Slate reception. Here's everything we've heard so far about Hatch, the code name for Google's next Chromebook.

Release date of Google Hatch

Although rumors and leaks concerning a publication date are rather rare at the moment, many reports from MySmartPrice and Notebookcheck attach this Chromebook to release alongside the Google Pixel 4. This would mean a start date of October 15, which is already anticipated by Pixel fans.

With that, it would be more than likely to see the Hatch hitting store shelves and online retailers by the end of October. At the very least, starting on October 15th would almost guarantee an exit before the Christmas shopping season.

Unfortunately, nothing in these leaks and reports helps to discuss a potential price for the Hatch. However, we know that the Chromebook should use some of the last 10 generations (Comet Lake) Intel Core Processors, starting with the Intel Core i3-10110U dual core processor.

This would obviously put the Hatch in line with the high-priced Ultrabooks, such as the Dell XPS 13. We can therefore expect this Chromebook to reach similar prices, very similar to those of the previous Pixelbook we loved so much.

Google Hatch Specifications and Features

We now know several key specification points and features that should be included in the Chromebook Hatch product. To begin, we are again aware that Google is equipping its Comet Lake Intel processors.

This is based on the recently disclosed and publicly disclosed Geekbench test information, listing in particular the Intel Core i3-10110U coin used, with outlets specifying that Google is not going to stop there. It is likely that Google will include Comet Lake options for the Core i5 and perhaps even the Core i7.

If you add at least 8GB of RAM to Geekbench results, you'll get a Chromebook that's more powerful than most, a feature of Google's Chrome laptops since their creation.

A 2,400 x 1,600 pixel screen in 3: 2 format completes the list of known features, like the 2017 Pixelbook, as well as a new built-in stylus, backlit keyboard and a good fingerprint reader for more security.

All in all, the code name Google Chromebook "Hatch" is perhaps among the best again. However, judging by Slate Pixel's slowdown, it would be wise for Google not to rest on its laurels.
