Hawaii Reports 12 More COVID Deaths, 836 New Infections

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii reported 12 more deaths from COVID on Saturday, bringing the death toll from the virus to 653.

This month alone, Hawaii has recorded 64 deaths.

Among the reported deaths:

Oahu

  • A man in his fifties who died at home
  • Two men in their 60s hospitalized
  • A woman in her sixties hospitalized
  • A 70-year-old woman hospitalized
  • Two men over 80 died at home
  • A woman over 80, hospitalized

Maui

  • A man over 80 hospitalized

Island of hawaii

  • Thirty-something hospitalized
  • A man in his fifties hospitalized
  • A 70-year-old woman hospitalized

Meanwhile, 836 new infections have been reported by the state’s health department.

The new cases bring the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 71,156.

In the past 14 days, 10,218 cases have been reported, which are considered “active” statewide.

Among the cases reported on Saturday:

  • 606 were on Oahu
  • 106 on the island of Hawaii
  • 80 in Maui
  • 32 on Kauai
  • 2 on Molokai

There were also seven residents diagnosed out of state.

Some 64.9% of the state’s population are fully immunized, while 73.1% have received at least one dose.
