Hawaii Reports 163 New Cases of COVID; vaccination rate increases to 59.8%

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii reported another triple-digit increase in COVID infections on Monday, with 163 new cases statewide.

Of the new cases Monday, 105 were in Oahu, 34 on the island of Hawaii, 16 in Maui and one in Kauai. There were also seven residents diagnosed out of state.

The state does not provide details on the number of cases in those vaccinated compared to those unvaccinated.

There were no additional deaths. The death toll from the virus in Hawaii stands at 529.

The total number of cases in Hawaii since the start of the pandemic is now 40,822.

In the past 14 days, the state’s health department said there were 2,048 new cases statewide.

In the last check, the DOH reported that 59.8% of Hawaii residents have been fully immunized.
