Hawaii reports 615 new COVID cases, 2 more deaths

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii reports 615 new COVID infections and two more deaths on Saturday as hospitalizations continue to rise in the state.

The two deaths were both in Oahu. One was a man in his 60s who was hospitalized and had underlying issues. The other was a woman in her 60s, who had also been hospitalized and suffered from underlying conditions.

The DOH said the death toll from the virus is 542.

Among the new cases on Saturday:

  • 415 were on Oahu
  • 101 on the island of Hawaii
  • 65 in Maui
  • Two on Molokai
  • 17 on Kauai

In addition to these cases, 15 infections were reported out of state.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic has risen to 45,860.

In the past 14 days, the state reports there have been 5,150 cases

Meanwhile, Green reported 195 active COVID hospitalizations statewide.

The positivity rate in Hawaii is 6.98%.

The state does not report daily on the immunization status of those who contract COVID.

Some 60.6% of the state’s population are fully immunized, while 67.8% have received at least one dose.
