New set photos from Marvel’s Hawkeye series reveal Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton wearing a hearing aid, teasing the character’s muffled storyline.

New photo series from Hawk Eye reveal Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton with a hearing aid. Hawkeye has spent the past decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a supporting main character. That will change with Phase 4 as Renner is set to lead a Disney + Hawk Eye series, which will also feature Kate Bishop. After months of uncertainty, the series finally began production recently and brought confirmation that Hailee Steinfeld will play the MCU’s next Hawkeye.

Throughout Hawkeye’s development, it’s clear that Marvel Studios borrows heavily from the Matt Fraction comic book which debuted in 2012. The 22-issue series is widely hailed as one of the best Hawkeye stories in history. Marvel, and she’s done a lot of work. to update the character. As well as teaming up with Kate Bishop, Fraction brought fan favorite Pizza Dog into Barton’s life and highlighted the return of Barton’s hearing loss. Hawk Eye It has already been confirmed to include Kate Bishop and Pizza Dog, and photos on set now appear to reveal that the show uses the hearing loss story.

As the first day of production on Hawkeye continues in Brooklyn, New York, the internet has brought many updates with new photos and videos. After starting with a blurry look at Steinfeld on set, a batch of HD photos of the set surfaced online. Not only did they give a great look at Steinfeld, but they also offered a detailed look at Clint Barton’s upcoming MCU appearance. Thanks to the quality of the images, an enlarged view of them reveals that Renner is wearing a hearing aid.

Clint Barton’s hearing loss is something Marvel Comics introduced before the Fraction run, but the stories haven’t done much with that aspect of the character. He first lost his hearing during a fight with Crossfire and was found several years later when he was brought back to life. Fraction then took Hawkeye’s hearing in a battle between Barton and the Clown, where the villain stabbed Hawkeye in both ears using his own arrows. Hawkeye was almost entirely deaf after that moment until Tony Stark made hearing aids for him. Fraction also revealed that Clint’s father abuse as a child resulted in him being partially deaf.

With Hawk Eye Building so heavily on the Fraction run, it’s not too surprising to see this development for Barton. Marvel Studios might keep a similar explanation for its hearing aid use, but it’s also possible that the story might be updated to fit the MCU. In any case, the addition of this part of Barton’s character will appeal to many. His hearing loss became a big part of Hawkeye’s story in the comics thanks to Fraction, and many called on the MCU to make Hawkeye deaf. It will also be another example of Marvel adding more representation to the universe. Lauren Ridloff to play first deaf superhero as Makkari in Eternal, and now Hawkeye will help put disabled heroes in the spotlight. Moreover, if Hawk Eye introduces Maya Lopez, aka Echo, to the MCU, the series could include several disabled heroes.
