A Happy New Year store poster on the set of Disney + ‘s Hawkeye reveals when the series takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.
New series photos for Disney + Hawk Eye The series has provided a subtle hint of when this show will unfold chronologically during Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The photos, posted on Twitter, show Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in New York’s Chinatown alongside Lucky (aka Pizza Dog), who Clint seems to be gradually enjoying. In one image, a sign can be seen in a store window with the text “Happy New Year 2025,” as well as lower text calling it “Year of the Serpent” – the Chinese zodiac year for 2025 – but with a word blocked by Steinfeld’s coat. Based on this and the winter setting, it is possible that Hawk Eye will take place either in early 2025 or winter 2024.

While it may seem like a random time jump at first, the show won’t happen until a few years after the events of Avengers: Endgame, which jumped five years into the future (i.e. 2023) after the surviving Avengers tracked down and killed Thanos. At that point, having lost his entire family to the decimation, Hawkeye fell into grief and became the Ronin sword-wielding vigilante, ruthlessly hunting down the surviving criminals until Black Widow asked him to help them. Avengers to carry out their heist and recover the Infinity Stones. Although Barton’s children and wife Laura were eventually resuscitated, there is currently no indication that they will reappear on his show.
Steinfeld’s casting as Kate Bishop, although not officially confirmed, has been the subject of many rumors for months, and the actor further hinted at his role in a recent Instagram post ahead of the anniversary. It was also recently announced that several new actors had joined Hawk eyes actors, including Vera Farmiga (Conspiracy), From fees (Wretched), Tony Dalton (You better call Saul) Alaqua Cox and Zahn McClarnon (Westworld). Florence Pugh is also set to make a cameo appearance, reprising her role as Yelena Belova from the upcoming Black Widow movie.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton, a role he started playing in 2011 in Thor. The series is expected to follow Clint as he trains Kate Bishop to become the new Hawkeye. The show is also expected to look at Clint’s time as Ronin, the superhero identity he assumed during the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Hawk Eye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox and Zahn McClarnon. The Disney + series has yet to receive a premiere date.
