Jeremy Renner, who will star in the upcoming MCU show Hawkeye, shares a photo of his daughter practicing archery on social media.

Hawk EyeJeremy Renner shared a photo on social media showing his daughter’s archery training. Renner is about to star in Hawk Eye, which will premiere on Disney + this year. It will be part of Marvel’s massive 2021 slate that will see the studio release four films and multiple TV shows. Hawk Eye will be Renner’s character’s first solo adventure following his appearance in five Marvel films.

Hawk Eye does not yet have a release date, but filming has started in New York City, giving fans a first glimpse of Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, to whom Renner’s Hawkeye will hand over. Joining Steinfeld and Renner are Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox, Brian d’Arcy James and Florence Pugh as her Black Widow character Yelena Belova. Details are otherwise scarce on the show’s subject matter, but there have been several clues to its precise comic book storyline that will see Kate Bishop and Clint Barton team up.

Renner’s daughter Ava is not on the team, but appears to be training nonetheless. In an image shared on Twitter, Renner showed a funny image of Ava, who is only seven, wielding a bow, without the arrows, just like her father’s character. On his face is an image of Renner’s face. Next to Ava’s photo is a photo of Renner himself holding a children’s bow and arrow sticking out of the frame. Renner captioned the photo, “Another day at the office, “with the bow and arrow emoji that he and other cast members used to tease the show.

The pictures are a nice reminder of a tragic moment at the start of Avengers: Endgame. Clint Barton sat down Avengers: Infinity War, choosing to focus on his family instead. Unaware that his friends were fighting Thanos, Avengers: Endgame opens with Clint training his daughter in archery. His wife, played by Linda Cardellini, is having a barbecue for the family when Thanos’ snap occurs. Clint does not see his family disappear, but he is deeply traumatized by the disappearance of his family.

Although they eventually return thanks to the Time Heist which sees the Avengers reassemble all of the Infinity Stones, Hawk Eye will likely explore the effects of this trauma. He’ll also see Clint Barton train Kate Bishop, another girl as a figure, presumably to reprise his role as Hawkeye so he can stay close to his family. Bishop’s presence, along with many other younger heroes, could be a sign of a new generation of heroes who will tackle the world’s problems when the original Avengers retire. While Hawk Eye is still a long way off, it will likely be an increasingly important step in the evolution of Clint Barton and the MCU as a whole.
