As Senator Josh Hawley raised his objection to Electoral College certification, the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) erupted into a standing ovation, cheers and a “USA” chant.
The Missouri Republican said he objected to Pennsylvania electoral votes to “have a debate on electoral integrity.”
“What was the result? I was called a traitor,” he told the crowd, “I was called a seditious, the radical left said I had to resign” or be kicked out, a he said.

The passionate response Hawley elicited at CPAC was indicative of a conference closely aligned with Trump, contradicting some predictions that the former president’s star power in the GOP would wane within days of President Biden’s inauguration.

Hawley, who has caught the nation’s attention by standing up to Big Tech and in retaliation against “Conservative censorship” by proposing bold bills to curb their power, is seen by some to be in favor of a race 2024, if Trump doesn’t jump into the mix.
