DOVER, Del. – Former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to announce soon he'll be looking for the White House in 2020. On Saturday night, he seemed – for a moment – to be getting ahead of himself.

The crowd in a ballroom at the Dover Downs casino complex began to cheer as Biden laughed and crossed himself.
Biden, 76, has repeatedly postponed the announcement dates of what would be his third candidacy for the presidency. He hired employees who would be expected to lead a national campaign, leaving many of his political allies convinced that he will show up. But he has not yet formalized these plans.
The Saturday night state democrats' gala, which also celebrated a democratic sweep in the state's mid-term elections, has repeatedly appealed to Biden's own plans.
Senator Thomas R. Carper (D-Del.) Called it "President Biden". Senator Christopher A. Coons (D-Del.) Told the crowd that he was "praying" for a president who "unites and heals us," referring to Biden. The Delaware speech was Biden's second political appearance of the week, after a speech to the International Firefighters' Association that looked like a campaign rally, with "Run Joe Run" signs in the audience.
In both speeches, Biden described the Trump presidency as a dangerous sham.
"Trump turned his back on those he said he would help," Biden told Dover. He decried the president's praise of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, pointing out that some foreign dictators had borrowed the president's speech on "false news" to suppress the opposition in their country.
"If you had asked me a few years ago if our democracy could collapse, I would have made fun of you," Biden said.
The former vice president gave some clues as to what a 2020 campaign could bring, telling the crowd that he would "hear a lot" talk about a "new business ethic" "Focused on the prosperity of workers and attacking cuts in the health sector. in the budget proposed by the Trump administration, released this week.
But Biden also continued his debate with the "new left" of the Democratic Party, repeatedly returning to the idea that politics had been broken by people who refused to seek consensus.
