CITY OF TRAVERSE, Mich. (AP) – Health officials from the northern part of the North Peninsula, Michigan, urge people to monitor the onset of measles symptoms after confirmation of the presence of a young woman recently arrived in Ukraine .

The Grand Traverse County Health Department said the unvaccinated woman had returned to northern Michigan with measles and that officials would not be surprised if new cases were discovered.

She could have exposed people in a shop, government office and health facilities in Traverse City from June 30 to July 4.

The department said there was no exhibition at the National Cherry Festival, which ended last weekend and attracts large crowds each summer in Traverse City.

The case is the 45th in Michigan this year. Most have been in the suburbs of Detroit.

The number is the highest in 65 years in 1991.
